To optimise textile and footwear recycling and speed up
the industry's circular development.

A DUAL MISSION:
To find and scale up innovative industrial and commercial solutions that optimise textile and footwear recycling.
To speed up the development of a more circular industry in synergy with other sectors in which there
is a demand for recycled materials (building, automobile, etc.)
THE STAKE :
Recycle 100 000 tonnes of used, non-reusable textiles and footwear to produce new materials.

 

THE INNOVATION CHALLENGE BACKS PROJECTS ACCORDING TO TWO STRATEGIC LINES:
1. The preparation of materials made from used textiles and footwear :

  • Sorting techniques, material characterisation, separation and preparation methods
  • Optimisation of reverse logistics and scaling up of material deposits

2. The incorporation of recycled materials made from used textiles and footwear in products from other industries (construction, automobile, etc.)

  • Creation of materials or recycled materials able to be used in several industries (eg: plastic pellets, flocking material)
  • Creation of products (other than textiles and footwear)

 

AND AIMING FOR TRL LEVELS OF BETWEEN 4 AND 6

OUR ASSETS :

  • The Challenge is open to all (in France and Europe: consortiums, companies, individuals, associations, etc.)
  • Funding for the Innovation Challenge of at least €500 K per year, without shareholding requirements or royalties
  • A Scientific Committee composed of recognized industry experts.
  • 52 projects backed and monitored since 2010
