We all benefit from consuming less.

Reduce the environmental impact of your clothes and shoes

Is it possible to reduce the impact of our clothes?

We would all like fashion to have little or no impact on the environment... and still have maximum choice in our wardrobes! For this to be possible, production processes must certainly become more responsible. But at the other end of the chain, we also need to reduce the impact of our own clothes and textiles. For that, there’s no secret — we’re here to help:

1. Buy only what you need,

2. Look after what you have by repairing, reusing as much as possible or allowing others to reuse your clothes, household linen and shoes,

3. Recycle materials rather than destroy them by using collection points instead of traditional rubbish bins. And if you agree, let's set a common goal: zero waste!

Does French legislation encourage a reduction in the environmental impact of textiles and footwear?

Yes! The law "Anti-Waste for a Circular Economy" (AGEC for short), which was passed in 2020, has significantly moved things forward. Its aim is to fundamentally transform our linear economy (produce — consume — throw away) into a circular economy. One of its five pillars is entirely dedicated to the fight against waste and to solidarity-based reuse. Among other things, it bans the destruction of unsold non-food products — a world first! As a result, retailers and distributors are now obliged to limit their stocks and look for alternatives to sell or donate them so that they can be reused. For the textile sector, this law came into force on 1 January 2022.

The KISS method

Before every purchase, ask yourself 5 questions:
K for Key need — Do I really need this product?
I for Immediate — Do I have to buy this immediately?
S for Similar — Do I already own something that serves the same purpose?
S for Source – Where does this product come from, and can I find a better option

"The question of durability "

The best way to consume less is to make every item you buy last longer! To do this, look at how the product is made — check the materials, seams, closures and colours — and always choose the options that will stand up best to time, washing and the elements. And when it comes to style, go for the timeless look!

Cleaning with care

If done incorrectly, too often or too hard, washing can damage your clothes. To wash safely, ask your retailer for advice, read your garment labels and detergent instructions carefully... and above all, don't overdo it! For more information, visit clevercare.info.

Buy second-hand

There are thousands of ways to buy quality second-hand products... and they're often real bargains! So don't hesitate to browse flea markets, garage sales and vintage shops, and explore second-hand websites online. There are lots of them 😉
