Faguo's aim is to offer products that combine fashion with environmental responsibility, in the face of the climate emergency. Since September 2019, the brand has offered a collection in recycled materials, ensuring that each new product maintains its quality.
The brand's commitment: Reducing carbon emissions
Since FAGUO was founded in 2009, the brand has been committed to taking action and fighting climate change, working on three essential pillars: measuring, reducing and offsetting its CO₂ emissions. Faguo's ambition is to make its activities as carbon neutral as possible, collection by collection, in order to play its part in the fight against global warming. To achieve this, the brand measures, significantly reduces and offsets its CO₂ emissions by planting a tree in France for every pair of FAGUO shoes produced. The use of recycled materials eliminates 50% of the emissions generated by an average Faguo product.
100% of Faguo products in recycled materials by 2024
Ten percent of the styles in the Autumn-Winter 2019 collection are made from recycled materials. From the launch of the Spring-Summer 2020 collection in March, every second Faguo product will be made partly or entirely from recycled materials, including recycled cotton, recycled leather, recycled rubber and the continued use of recycled polyester. By the following winter (2020), this figure will rise to 70%. The aim is for 100% of Faguo products to be made from recycled materials by 2024.
Faguo's recycled product range
These new recycled trainers use polyester recycled from plastic bottles (certified by the Global Recycled Standard, GRS), which emits 30% less CO₂ than virgin polyester and avoids further use of fossil resources. The leather is chrome-free and certified by the Leather Working Group (Gold) and the natural rubber contains 15% recycled content. The packaging is also recycled and recyclable, the manufacturing process is BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) certified and transport is carried out by train. Finally, Faguo actively encourages its customers to donate, resell or recycle their old clothes, trainers, etc. at Faguo's in-store drop-off points or other collection points.
