Our areas of action

We manage the prevention and end-of-life management of clothing, household linen and footwear for everyone in France. We create tools and implement solutions that help manufacturers to produce more responsibly and reduce their environmental impact, guide citizens to adopt the right habits and buy more responsibly, and help all stakeholders in the sector to develop circularity for both products and materials. We work at the heart of a large ecosystem covering all stages of the textile and footwear lifecycle: production, consumption and regeneration.

Production

We help companies in the apparel, household linen and footwear sectors to meet their legal obligations to prevent and manage the end-of-life of their products. The aim? To reduce the sector's environmental impact by encouraging eco-design, repair, reuse and recycling of the products they put on the market.

A wide range of services

We offer tools and support to manufacturers in the sector at every stage of their activities: practical resources to simplify their reporting; platforms, workshops and financial incentives to promote eco-design; schemes to set up used textile collections; ready-to-use communication materials; funding to incorporate recycled materials into products; and incentives to develop repair services.

237 M€ for eco-modulations

Eco-modulations are financial levers in the form of bonuses and penalties that encourage manufacturers to bring more sustainable products to the market. They reward good eco-design practices and penalise products with poorer environmental performance.

Consumption

We encourage citizens to adopt the right habits for a more circular fashion industry. How do we do this? By encouraging sorting and second hand, funding repairs through the Repair Bonus and raising awareness of the circular economy through communication campaigns and events.

+35% in repairs

Launched in 2023, the Repair Bonus aims to make mending, resoling and patching part of people’s habits again. Between its launch and the end of 2024, 866,000 repairs were out in participating shops and workshops, with Refashion paying out €4.7 million (and each participating citizen saving between €6 and €25). Our goal: a +35% increase in repairs between 2023 and 2028.

Public awareness

We inform and encourage citizens to take action through dynamic communication initiatives such as the regional Refashion Academies or the TV programme On refait la mode on the M6 channel (following Mission Refashion in 2023), and on a larger scale through television, radio and digital channels. Our goal for 2023-2028 is to earmark 2% of the eco-contributions paid by market players for public communication campaigns.

Regeneration

We bring together the "downstream" stakeholders (sorting and collection operators, local authorities, recyclers, etc.) in France and across Europe. The objective? To promote collection, encourage reuse and develop recycling by finding industrial opportunities.

More collection

We continue to speed up the expansion of textile and footwear collection across different regions of France. In 2023, 32% of products placed on the market were collected, and we aim to reach 60% by 2028, offering financial support to committed brands and local authorities.

More reuse

We support reuse organisations, particularly those in the social and solidarity economy (SSE). We provide funding for every tonne of textiles and footwear tracked and for events that promote reuse. Our aim is to extend the life of collected items by developing a high quality, local reuse offer.

L’environnement industriel, l’éclairage fluorescent et la disposition du tri indiquent un processus structuré de recyclage ou de revalorisation des textiles.

More research and development

We're stepping up R&D and innovation to increase the amount of used textiles and footwear recycled, industrialising recycling in France and across Europe. To achieve this, we are carrying out recycling trials on material preparation and the incorporation of recycled materials. We are also launching calls for projects to support innovation and industrialisation. Our goal: by 2027, 80% of non-reusable used textiles and shoes should be recycled.
