The Textile Race is back!
After a very successful first edition in 2022, the Textile Race is back, and this year it is taking place in the Vosges!
What is the Textile Race?
From October 9 to November 16, 2023, ten classes from the western Vosges region were united around the second edition of the inter-school competition to collect used textiles and shoes, initiated by Refashion in association with Race Against Waste, Evodia et Vosges TLC.
The aim?
To raise awareness among the 240 participating students of the environmental issues associated with the Textile and Footwear Sector, and to introduce the principles of the circular economy in a fun and creative way through sorting, repairing, reusing and recycling.
The 10 participating schools
École Primaire de Rouvre-la-Chétive, École Élémentaire de Châtenois, École Primaire de Soulosse Sous-Saint-Elophe, École Primaire de Coussey, École Élémentaire de l'Orme de Liffol-le-Grand, École Primaire de Gironcourt-sur-Vraine, École Primaire de Saint-Remimont, École Elémentaire Marcel Pagnol de Neufchâteau, École Primaire Saint-Ouen-lès-Parey, École Primaire Privée Jeanne d'Arc de Neufchâteau.
And, at the end of the competition?
At the end of the 4-week competition, the winning school will receive a field trip to the Centre d'Animation de la Préhistoire in Darney, plus other surprises...
Doing even better than last year!
Last year, schools in the Aix-Marseille-Provence met the challenge by collecting 17,340 kilos of textiles!
But that is not all: 330 repair actions were undertaken, 7 publications in local media were generated, 209 posters, videos and awareness-raising leaflets were created, distributed or displayed by pupils.
See you on November 18 for the results!
